Alert and Warning Systems
Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS)
IPAWS is FEMA’s national system that enables local alerting through multiple communication channels, including mobile phones, radio, television, and NOAA Weather Radio.
Enable IPAWS alerts in your mobile device settings to make sure you receive important emergency notifications.

Alerting Authority
Alerting authorities are entities authorized to issue public alerts during emergencies. Over 1,500 authorities at federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial levels use IPAWS to notify the public about imminent threats or disasters.
Common Alerting Protocol (CAP)
CAP enhances emergency information delivery, ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities and others with functional needs.
